Interesting you set for Nicd, I wouldn't have even thought of that. If I get a working one, I'll type out the full working instructions as well. I will send it back to him on Monday and update the thread with any results if that's of any use. I did question the instructions but am waiting for a reply from him. I have contacted the shop as I got it from Flebay and his reply was, it is the first one reported as faulty.(maybe a standard reply me thinks) but he did say he has used a few and to send it back for testing. I did question them after I discovered this anomaly. Have you found the programming instructions yet for the 40? There where some instructions that came with the esc and all settings seem to work fine. I just don't fly it to cut-off and have been happier with it since making the setting change. I think I finally got exasperated with it and set it up for Ni batteries instead of Lipo. Like you, I can run it a bit to drain down the battery slightly and then re-plug the battery to get the ESC to recognize it as a 2S. I've not used the TowerPro 40 but have an 18 (or 25, I can't quite remember) that will register a fresh 2S as a 3S and will then shut down after about 30 seconds of running. Just wish I could get it to work with a fresh Battery. Never comes down hot, never hot on a static test even pulling 40A constantly. To be honest, when the Lipo has discharged a bit and the esc sees a 3 cell, it works faultlessly. Any suggestions would be welcome, or a definate set of instructions so I can check them against mine. I think the esc is faulty, but was wondering if the Auto detect for cell count could be altered, or maybe it is seeing NiMh not LiPo. If I run the battery down a bit, then re connect, I get three beeps together, so the esc is seeing three cells and it performs great with no issues and full power. This is only if the three cell Lipo is above about 11.7volts. The esc then drives the motor at a reduced speed. I get four beeps, but have a three cell LiPo connected. After programming, I get a beep when I connect my battery, then four beeps together, which should state the number of cells connected. It's this one _ The instructions are not very clear, but I think I am doing it right. I'm having a bit of difficulty with my TowerPro 40 Amp Speed Controller.
